Do We Really Need Boruto?

đź“·

As far as I’m concerned, I really didn’t think Boruto was necessary. In fact, I’m quite sure that the majority of people still watching this show are mainly doing so just to see what their old favorite characters are up to. I would’ve been perfectly fine with another show about Naruto as an adult, perhaps, but Boruto? Not so much.

Here’s a couple reasons why:

The protagonist: Boruto Uzumaki himself, the new protagonist, is probably my least favorite character in the show.

After recently graduating the academy he:

Possesses three change in chakra natures (Until half of the Fourth Great Shinobi War was over, Naruto only had one)“Subconsciously” added Wind and Lightning Release chakra natures to his Rasengan (Please note: after trying extremely hard, both Minato and Kakashi failed at this- Naruto had to train forever just to add Wind Style to his Rasengan) (Olisa Efobi’s comment explains this spot-on)Got a perfect score on the Academy test without even trying (I was perfectly happy with Minato holding the highest academy score record- are you seriously trying to tell me that Boruto is smarter than him?)Cheated during the Chunin Exams in order to passWas doing better taijutsu than all 5 Kage combined, in doing so also “defeating” Momoshiki Otsutsuki (I really think Naruto and Sasuke should’ve just done that)Has his own unique dojutsu, even getting some sort of “Otsutsuki Curse Mark”, which is pretty much guaranteed to be extremely overpowered

What’s worse? Boruto doesn’t deserve any of it. I mean, he’s barely had to try to accomplish anything. While Sasuke had to witness his entire clan get murdered just to awaken the basic Sharingan, Boruto’s gotten his own possibly even more overpowered dojutsu all the while cursing his dad for saving the world.

Other Characters:

The characters of the new era are just completely overpowered. How many people hate Boruto? (No spoilers)– I found that Alex Anuna’s answer to this explains it extremely well

I mean, thinking about it, both Naruto and Sasuke took days just to be able to walk on trees, even with Sasuke being a recognized member of the prodigy club.

The Plot:

In the Naruto Chunin Exams, you could feel the aura of danger. In Boruto, not so much.

By the point that Boruto is currently at, Naruto had:

The Land of the Waves Arc– this arc had truly amazing fights and emotion. Seeing Kakashi against Zabuza with the introduction of the sharingan was just awesome to watch. The original Chunin Exams. Not to say the Boruto one was bad, but Naruto’s Chunin Exams had an entirely different level of danger and even gave us the Rock Lee vs. Gaara fight, which to this day is still one of the best in the entire show.Naruto vs. Neji– this fight was pretty great and gave us further detail on Neji’s background. Gentle fist was probably one of my favorite things to watch in the show. There were a lot of other Chunin Exams battles which were amazing. Seeing Gaara against those Amegakure shinobi was definitely bone-chilling, and Neji’s murderous intent against Hinata (along with her willpower) was exciting to watch as well. The destruction of the Hidden Leaf Village– Orochimaru vs. The Third Hokage. However, I understand completely well that with Naruto and Sasuke there, the destruction of the Leaf Village is no longer possible.

I suppose that the Naruto and Sasuke vs. Momoshiki fight was an absolutely magnificent fight, but I seriously think it could’ve done better if Boruto himself just wasn’t there. Because if you’ve noticed, it was that great because of Naruto and Sasuke themselves. Sadly, that’s likely to be the last time we see the two friends fight together.

Others:

Well, one thing that’s just hard to accept for a lot of Naruto fans is the fact that he’s going to be surpassed. Because, after so many of us have spent our past 15 years watching him go through trials and harship one after another, and growing from a 12 year-old knucklehead into the Hokage, it’s kind of hard for us to cope with the fact that his completely unrelatable brat of a son, who doesn’t even have to try, is going to steal his glory away from him. It’s also highly likely that Sasuke won’t make it to the end of the series, which is a bit difficult to watch- because, for once, the plot armor is against our favorite protagonists (there’s just no other possible way that they can die). From the way it’s going, I sincerely doubt that Boruto’s villains will ever match the likes of Madara or the Akatsuki (Shin’s Akatsuki? I’m sorry- are you serious?). On terms of personality, I’ve found that none of the Otsutsuki have been even nearly as enjoyable to watch- and although they’re definitely strong, in a way, they’re not quite as intimidating as those characters either. I mean, we knew that when someone came into contact with the Akatsuki that they were done (as long as they weren’t our protagonists with all their plot armor) Do you remember Pain’s Invasion with Kakashi and Jiraiya’s death? The amount of pure emotionand terror those moments held was unexplainable. When we saw Madara running to fight the entire Allied Shinobi Forces, we could see each of them trembling and praying for their lives. And by the point that Boruto is currently at, Naruto also had Orochimaru, who at one point was just about the scariest person in the show. I mean, seeing Kakashi shaking with fear in front of him, the very person who had defeated Zabuza (Both he and Haku were also amazing), that just had a whole different effect. So far, none of Boruto’s antagonists have really gotten to us that much.I also don’t personally like the way the characters from the original Naruto are depicted, with Naruto and Sasuke being a bit weaker, along with quite a few othersAnd yes, Naruto was famous for it’s fillers, but if it it’s possible, I find that many of Boruto’s are even less engaging. I mean, most of Naruto’s fillers had some significance to their showing and were even fun to watch, but I’m afraid that I can’t exactly say the same for the next generation. Some examples of Boruto fillers: “Super Cho-Cho Kiss Mode!” and “Love and Potato Chips!”I understand the episodes are trying to lighten the mood, but… what?

Of course, a lot of you will probably have differing opinions, but since the question was more centered around my thoughts about Boruto, that’s the way I answered it.

One piece: How all blue is Created

I bumped into this beautiful piece about how all blue was going to be created and i decided i just had to share it with you all.

Spoiler (includes the Yonko arc) this info. ends until episode 1000+

Luffy will beat cracker but he’s severely wounded and unconcious, then they manage to get out of the forest because nami kept abusing lola’s vivre card. Sanji was able to reconcile with family and the vinsmokes uncuffed him and defended him from big mam’s crew. strawhats were able to reunite with sanji back with the help of pudding. jinbei also managed to join the strawhats, they escaped big mam’s territory and went to wano kingdom where preparations were made to attack Kaido.

The attack was scheduled 2 weeks after Luffy arrived, so that Luffy can heal and then train his haki along with Zoro, and Sanji. Law is also preparing the strategy. 2 weeks later, preparations were made and their alliance were on the move ( samurais, minks, ninjas) they went to kaido’s territory. they saw captain Kidd, Hawkins and Appo along with each of their crew displayed in big cages. jack(one of the calamity and kaidos right hand with a bounty of 1billion) suddenly appeared and attacked the strawhats. Zoro,Sanji and Jinbei stepped in and had their hands full dealing with jack, while law and luffy went straight to get kaido. the other 2 calamities showed up. The 2 dukes of zou (nekomamushi and inuarashi) and the 3 legendary warriors of wano dealt with the other 2 calamities. while the strawhat crew, Trafalgar’s crew, the mink, the samurais, the ninjas engaged in battle on the rest of kaido’s army. law and luffy were finally able to get in touch with kaido (who was sleeping while the battle happened) luffy immediately used gear 4th and smacked his face. kaido was grazed and woke up.

The battle began against kaido(a yonko with a 5.2 billion bounty). Law and luffy were completely outpowered. Ussop released kidd, appo, and Hawkins along with their crew and were able to join the battle. the 3 captains (kidd, appo, hawkins) went for kaido’s head and helped luffy beat kaido. it was a 5 vs 1. luffy, law, kidd, appo, hawkins vs kaido king of beast. they were all still no match but they gave kaido a hard time with their strategy. meanwhile, sanji was knocked unconscious and had his leg broken but he dealt a big damage against jack, jinbei was also a big help but he took jack’s stongest blow to protect sanji who was already unconscious, jimbei was completely defeated. now what’s left was zoro vs jack (battle of the right hand men). both of them were badly injured, but jack still has the upperhand. zoro was able to open his left eye which was preserved and only used as a trump card. it was a strong sense of observation haki so that’s why his agility and focus increased greatly, not minding his surroundings, big destruction and slashes were over the place affecting everyone. zoro finally defeated jack with his last final blow (his greatest attack) ”asura tensei”. the battle with the other 2 calamities were still ongoing. the dukes and legendary samurais were able to match the calamities, but at the end the calamities beat them all. the calamities were severely injured. one calamity (Jin with a bounty of 900million) was finally finished when ussop, brook and robin stepped in. while the other calamity (Doom with a bounty of 800million) was also finished by general franky and monster chopper combo. the luffy and law alliance is winning the war with the help of the 3 supernovas and their crew that was captured by kaido. the battle was ongoing for 3 days. kaido’s crew was defeated but the strawhats took great damage also with sanji and jimbei unconscious and on the brink of death along with the dukes. now what’s left was kaido. the strawhats and the others were resting at the battlefield, all of them were injured and couldn’t even walk properly. zoro wanted to help but his body wont move because of a great fatigue caused by opening his left.

The theory is quite simple and discusses the way that All Blue will be created(if it doesn’t already exist :P), eventually making Sanji’s dream a reality. Could Sanji know something about All Blue, making him important to be alive for the World Government(thus the wanted poster) or could he be a Prince? (All concepts of a later post :P). So, what is All Blue for those not so familiar? It is a sea where all the other seas can exist as one, along with all the living species of the ocean.

A really interesting idea is that this sea containing all the other seas will be created by the destruction of the Red Line, which of course divides the 4 seas, North, South, East and West Blue. Luffy may be the man destined to do that using either his power, or that of the ancient weapons, which he may acquire later on in the story.

Destroying the Red Line at the Reverse Mountain could mean finding Raftel, should it be stated there. Another way can be by destroying Mariejois, the capital of the World Government, eventually defeating it, freeing people from its reign and injustice and fulfilling the will of the D(the concept of a later post ;)).

The destruction of the Red Line, uniting all seas into one, means letting people and pirates freely roam the ocean, making a reality Luffy’s dream of absolute freedom. In addition to that, what Roger had was his love for the oceans and the freedom of a pirate’s life, making that freedom his legacy for the people of All Blue :D.
